Most Citrine on the market is heat treated Amethyst. Treating gemstones with heat is a common practice used in the gem industry to change the color of stones, it changes the metaphysical properties and energies of the stone but it does not damage the stone, since heat and pressure are naturally part of the process as gems are forming within the Earth.
In general, Citrine that is vibrant lemon-yellow to orange-yellow is heat treated, it's created by heating Amethyst to high temperatures. And natural Citrine is more subtle, pale yellow and smokey golden shades. We'll be discussing more about this in an upcoming blog post.
