Guerrero Amethyst crystal cluster from Amatitlán Guerrero, Mexico. This is a beautiful uncommon variation of Amethyst, the crystals have distinctive purple interiors transitioning into translucent milky exteriors, giving Guerrero Amethyst an ethereal frosted glowy appearance. Phantoms are common in Guerrero Amethyst. This exquisite collectors specimen has translucent gemmy grape amethyst crystals, beautiful!
The Guerrero mines are famous among mineral collectors around the world. The area is known as one of the top two mining locations in Mexico for the finest Amethyst specimens, the other location being the Las Vigas mines of Veracruz, Mexico. Today Guerrero Amethyst is difficult to obtain, the mines are currently closed and the area is controlled by the cartel. Most specimens available today are old stock, with very few exporters having any stock still available.
